The risk can be minimized through very well-trained tandem masters and modern equipment. Skydiving is not a high-risk sport and therefore you do not need special accident insurance for a tandem jump. The material is regularly maintained and the equipment always consists of two parachutes. In other words, driving to the airport by car is much more dangerous than skydiving afterwards.
