What happens if the minimum flight time for paragliding thermal flight is not reached?

Since the paraglider flies without a motor, the stated flight times are only guidelines and approximate. Flight time deviations of +/- 25% are normal.

If the minimum flight time is not achieved during a paragliding thermal flight, the flight will be counted as a panoramic flight. The difference will then be refunded according to the selected payment method. If payment is made by voucher, a voucher will be issued for the difference.

Certain launch sites and areas have a greater altitude difference, which means the flight time is generally longer than in other areas. These areas are excluded from this rule due to the greater effort required for the pilot and the greater altitude difference. The flight in these areas is therefore always counted as a thermal flight, regardless of the flight time.

The following areas are excluded from this rule (not exhaustive):

  • Rigi

  • Pilatus

  • Fronalpstock Central Switzerland

  • Stanserhorn

  • Stockhorn

  • All take-off points in Ticino
