Understanding flights on a private basis

We offer certain flights on a private basis, which are based on the principle of cost-sharing.

The pilot does not make a profit from the flight. The price paid serves exclusively to cover the direct costs of the flight (e.g., fuel, landing fees, aircraft charter) on a pro-rata basis. This is expressly regulated and permitted by the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) under Regulation (EU) No 965/2012. In addition to the actual flight costs for the pilot, the total price includes a small organizational fee from Flightbase.

Although these are private flights, we make no compromises when it comes to selecting our pilots.

  • Every pilot holds a valid PPL (Private Pilot License) or CPL (Commercial Pilot License) as well as a current medical certificate.

  • We don't just work with "anyone." All pilots who fly for us are personally known to us, fly regularly, and have extensive flight experience in the region.

  • The pilots are passionate ambassadors of aviation. They know the most beautiful routes in their area and are happy to share their knowledge with you during the flight.

A 'flight on a private basis' (cost-sharing) should not be confused with an 'exclusive flight' (sometimes referred to as a 'private flight'), where the entire aircraft is booked for your exclusive use. While the terms 'exclusive' and 'private flight' refer to the privacy on board, 'on a private basis' describes the legal framework of cost-sharing with a private pilot.
